What most people do when they lose a pet? How do they grieve? Does getting a new pet immediately helps them or not? Many people have different response to this, but in Juli Link’s experience this is what helped her – read her story!
She is a pet lover who had a Manx mix cat called Buffy Lou, 14 years old, who unfortunately died of cancer. 30 days after this tragedy, her dog Gretchen a rescue Rottie mix dog has died the in the same way after 12 years of life. Juli was devastated and thought that nothing can help her feel better.
However, two weeks later there came the rescuer – her angel. It was early January and very cold when she went out in the evening and heard a meowing under the deck of her house. She had to rip the fence and clear out so she can find the kitten. When she made a hole big enough, the cat jumped into her arms and she took her in the house. The cat was shaking from the cold and when Juli took her she looked her in the eyes and put her paw on Juli’s face. This reminded her of her recently passed cat Buffy because she used to do that to her.
This cat was a Maine coon, she had the tufted ears and has taken Buffy’s spot in Juli’s bed and in her lap. She named her Maui and for Juli this has been a miracle, because Maui came in to her life at the right time. She helped her in her grief and at the same time Juli helped Maui find her new home and enjoy together.
